Abstract

Abstract: Objective To investigate the relationship of thyroid function and liver function in patients with chronic hepatitis C. Methods The levels of thyroid hormone and liver function in 196 cases of HCV patients were detected. The relationship of them was analyzed. Results In 196 patients of HCV, there were 38 cases suffered from thyroid dysfunction, 2 of them were hyperthyroidism, 3 of them were hypothyroidism, and 33 of them were subclinical hypothyroidism. The levels of ALT, AST, TP, ALB and GLO in normal thyroid function had no significant differences with that of thyroid dysfunction group(P>0.05). Relevant indicators of liver function were not the risk factors for thyroid dysfunction(P>0.05). Conclusion 19.4% of patients with chronic HCV hepatitis had abnormal thyroid function. It was significantly higher than the normal population. The level of liver function had no significant effect on the thyroid dysfunction.
