Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of LMO1 and LMO4 in human glioma and normal brain tissues and evaluate their clinical significance. Methods The levels of LMO1 and LMO4 in brain specimens collected from 45 patients with gliomas and 19 normal controls were measured by quantitative real-time PCR. The relationship between these expressions and pathological grade were also analyzed. Results LMO1 expression in brain specimens of glioma patients was statistically higher than that in the controls. Compared with that in low-grade gliomas, the levels of LMO1 in high-grade gliomas were significantly increased. There was a positive correlation between LMO1 expression level and the pathological grade of gliomas. LMO4 mRNA levels were higher in glioblastoma multiform than the well-differentiated glioma and normal brain tissues. Conclusion The expression of LMO1 and LMO4 are elevated in glioma patients. They may participate in the occurrence and development of glioma.
