Abstract

Objective To compare the TPAb and TPPA methods in detection of serum syphilis antibodies. Methods 616 cases of syphilis antibody positive serum samples measured by TPPA were repeat detected with TPAb method. 88 cases of syphilis antibody positive serum samples measured by TPAb were repeat detected with TPPA method. 7 syphilis antibody positive serum samples tested by both two methods were diluted with half negative serum were detected by TPPA and TPAb method respectively to compare the sensitivity of the two methods. Results 612 cases of serum samples in 616 TPPA tested positive cases were tested as positive by TPAb method, which showed 99.35% of compliance. 77 cases of serum samples in 88 TPAb tested positive cases were tested as positive by TPPA method, which showed 87.5% of compliance. Conclusion The dilution experiment indicates that TPAb method is more sensitive than TPPA method, it can be used to detect samples with even lower limit.
