Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical significance of serum homocysteine (Hcy), Cystatin C (CysC) and uric acid (UA) levels in patients with gestational diabetes. Methods The serum levels of Hcy, CysC and UA in 50 gestational diabetes mellitus patients and 60 healthy pregnant women were determined by automatic biochemical analyzer. Results Compared with the healthy pregnant women group, the serum levels of Hcy, CysC and UA in patients with gestational diabetes were significantly increased (P<0.05). Conclusion The development of gestational diabetes mellitus is closely related to the serum Hcy, CysC and UA levels. The serum levels of Hcy, CysC and UA can be used to evaluate the macrovascular and microvascular damage in gestational diabetes mellitus patients.
