Abstract

Abstract:Objective To explore the relationship between sex hormone-binding globulin and insulin resistance in man. Methods 70 normal people were selected as reference group, 30 people with higher insulin as insulin resistance group, and 30 people with both higher globulin and higher insulin as diabetes group. The serum SHBG levels in all groups were determined by CLIA. Results The serum SHBG levels in insulin resistance group and diabetes group were decreases incredibly compared with control group (P<0.05). The serum SHBG levels in control group was negatively correlated with insulin level (r= -3.46, P<0.05). The serum SHBG levels in insulin resistance group and diabetes group did not regularly change as the growing of insulin concentration. Conclusion The serum SHBG in man is related with insulin levels. The lower serum SHBG level might be regarded as the risk signal of insulin resistance and diabetes, and help to diagnosis of these two diseases.
