Abstract

Objective To explore the overall accuracy of plasma (1-3)-β-D-glucan assay for diagnosing of invasive fungal infections ((FI) with a meta-analysis. Methods The sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative likelihood ratios of(1-3)-β-D-glucan in the diagnosis of IFI were pooled using a bivariate meta-analysis with ST AT A 11. Results Thirty- one studies were included for the analysis ( proven, probable, and possible IFI vs no IFI). The pooled sensitivity, specificity,PLR and NLR were0.79 (95% CI,0.73-0.85),0.86 (95% CI,0.80-0.90),5.64 (95% CI,3.818-8.352),and 0.242 (95% CI,0.179-0.326),respectively. Conclusion Plasma(1-3)-β-D-glucan assay is clinically useful for diagnosing IFI in at-risk patients.
